PASTOR JOHN FITZGERALD JOHNSON

A native of Columbus, Mississippi, Pastor John Fitzgerald Johnson served as the Senior Pastor of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Starkville, Mississippi for seventeen years before accepting the call to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in March of 2018. Pastor Johnson believes in having a solid focus toward helping the church grow spiritually through a strong emphasis on Christian education and preaching sound doctrine from God’s Word.

At the age of nineteen, in July of 1993, he acknowledged and accepted the call to preach the gospel, and was ordained into the ministry at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi in October of 1994.

Pastor Johnson attended Mississippi State University (Business and Management), Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois and is a graduate of Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama. He is currently attending the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, where he will be graduating in 2019 with a Masters of Divinity, and he has a future educational goal of completing a PhD in the area of Expository Preaching.

Pastor Johnson has served as the 1st Vice President At Large of the North East Mississippi Baptist State Convention, and he served as the Moderator of the Whitefield Baptist District Association for eight years. Blessed to have had the opportunity to preach in various parts of the Nation, National Baptist Convention, Seminaries and Conferences, Pastor Johnson is truly grateful to have been called to serve God’s people. He firmly believes that pastoring is grounded in the reality of loving God’s people. Therefore any true pastor can only lead as far as he can love.

He says that his family is vital to his life and to the life of his ministry. He is the son of Ruth Johnson and the late David J. Johnson, Sr. of Columbus, Mississippi. He is also the grateful husband of Tamera N. (Morton) Johnson, and they have four amazing daughters: Jasmyn, Mckensi, Emoree and Johnera.
